The Senior Systems Administrator shall maintain the general health of the network and server systems at the Telehouse Datacenter and Disaster Recovery site. The Administrator shall plan for future growth, implement improvements as necessary and investigate new technologies.  The Senior Systems Administrator shall work for the Network Systems Manager. 
Responsibilities include: establish procedures for proper operation and maintenance of network equipment and servers, operating systems and system applications; carry out, and supervise personnel in the carrying out, of above established procedures;  document and  periodically update LAN, WAN, network equipment and server configurations; test fail-over systems for proper operation at scheduled intervals; design, plan and implement all necessary upgrades and changes to network and server systems; manage all projects assigned to them and their subordinates and meet all required deadlines; coordinate with the security information officer and IT audit officer to insure compliance with recommended security practices and department and organizational policies; educate department managers and general users in required and recommended Information Technology practices; keep the network physical plant, including server room, in good condition.
Additionally, the Systems Administrator provides 1st (phone) and 2nd level desktop support; may also provide 3rd level (escalated) support based on experience; maintains the Client’s hardware and software inventories.
Oversee 1st level support team (Digital Edge) in the  area of responsibilities – network systems; Develop the scope and operations of this area with management. Oversee the primary and secondary network and systems located at Telehouse and Carlstadt and tertiary ones in Los Angeles, Luxembourg and London.
  1. Reviews and modifies existing, and establishes new procedures as required for proper operation of the Client’s network equipment and servers, operating systems and system applications.
  2. Responds to network and server alerts and resolves or escalates and tracks problems to resolution.
  3. Periodically reviews and updates existing, and creates new documentation as required. 
  4. Configures existing and new network and server equipment to established department standards.
  5. Interfaces with IT Auditor. Provide requested documentation and information. Responds to opened audit items as required.
  6. Investigates network and server problems and provide fixes. Escalates to vendors as required.
  7. Keeps network equipment and servers updated to the latest operating systems service pack and hot fix level.
  8. Maintains fault tolerant systems and tests on a regular basis. Updates and maintains the Client’s disaster recovery site as needed. Coordinates with the Disaster Recovery coordinator for disaster testing.
  9. Manages 3rd party vendors in the assignment of any and all of the above responsibilities.
  10. Responsibility for change management in applicable areas of control.
  11. Responsibility for deployment management and life-cycle in all  areas of control.
  12. Responsibility for management for all areas of control.
  13. Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains Servers, PC hardware, software and printers
  14. Plans and implements user profiles which provide drive and printer mappings and email
  15. Provides helpdesk support to resolve complex technical hardware and software problems
  16. Maintains detailed inventory of purchased hardware and software.
  17. Prepares and provides reports as requested by management.
  18. Maintains detailed hardware and software licensing records.
  19. Assists in network planning, design, installation and maintenance.
  20. Performs server administrative tasks as directed or required.
  21. Performs installation, configuration and documentation of server applications as directed.
  22. Responsible for the deployment and maintenance of the ITIL Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  23. Provides high quality work by ensuring accuracy and seeking to continuously improve our processes and platforms by embracing new and better ways of doing things.
  24. Enhances employee’s knowledge and understanding of job responsibilities through continuous communication and on the job training.  Training should focus on establishing high quality/accuracy of work.
Required Skill Sets
  1. Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience installing, troubleshooting and maintaining Server and PC hardware and Operating Systems, software and printers.
  2. Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience with previous and current Red Hat Linux operating systems and applications.
  3. Hands-on knowledge and management experience of Java based applications or installations including JVM configuration, management and tuning.
  4. Web Service administration, management and tuning experience (Jboss, WebLogic, Apache, IIS)
  5. Virtualization experience (VMWare preferred).
  6. Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  9. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science.
  10. Good project management skills.
  11. Strong knowledge of change management and best practices.
  12. Strong knowledge of incident management best practices.
  13. Strong knowledge of problem management and best practices.
  14. Strong knowledge of system deployment, life-cycle and best practices.
Preferred Optional Skill Sets (not required but very beneficial)
  1. RHCSA or RHCE certification preferred.
  2. CCNA certification preferred.
  3. 5 years’ hands-on experience with Cisco routers, firewalls and switches.
  4. 5 years’ experience with the latest Microsoft operating systems and applications.
  5. Active Directory administration experience.
  6. Strong knowledge of network management, deployment, life-cycle and best practices.
  7. Cognos administration, management and tuning experience.
  8. ITIL certification preferred.
  9. Splunk administration and management experience
  10. Ansible experience
  11. Siteminder administration, management and tuning experience.
  12. Monitoring and Alerting systems (OpenNMS, Splunk).
  13. Messaging experience (MS Exchange).
